Description
IBM12B0007 - MISSION LEVEE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - MLUID - Along United Irrigation District Canal, From Military Road To 1.1 Miles Upstream of Bentsen Palm Drive in Hidalgo County, Texas PROJECT IDENTIFICATION. The Project to be constructed under this contract is identified as follows: International Boundary and Water Commission – United States Section, Mission Levee Improvement Project - MLUID - Along United Irrigation District Canal, From Military Road To 1.1 Miles Upstream of Bentsen Palm Drive (From Levee Sta. 192+79.56 to Sta. 346+59.95 = 2.9 miles) Hidalgo County, Texas GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK. The scope of work for this project generally includes excavation and filling in the area of the existing United Irrigation District (UID) Canal adjacent to Mission Levee in order to construct a smaller canal section, lining of the new canal section with reinforced concrete, and a maintenance road on the south side of the new canal section. The work is anticipated to include the following tasks:(1) Construction of temporary cofferdams and de-watering of the UID canal within the project limits. (2) Preparation of right of way (clearing and grubbing). (3) Excavation of material to establish the proposed canal invert, including over-excavation and re-compaction of soil below the canal invert as shown on the Contract Drawings. (4) Benching into competent soil prior to placement of fill as shown on the Contract Drawings. (5) Placement of compacted fill to establish the design grade. (6) Placement of reinforced concrete within the invert and side slopes of the new canal section. (7) Construction of appurtenant structures including canal turnouts and retaining walls at bridge crossings. (8) Constructing 6-inch Flex Base along top of new maintenance road constructed on the south side of the new UID canal and an access ramp at the upstream end of the project. Note: There is a non -mandatory site visit, which potential bidders are strongly encouraged to attend ( non-mandatory date site visit details to be provided in forthcoming solicitation, which will include Plans and Specifications attachments) at the USIBWC Mercedes Field Office, 325 Golf Rd., Mercedes, Texas 78750. Please remember this is only a pre-solicitation. This requirement is UNRESTRICTED. The magnitude of this project is between $10,000,000.00 and $13,00,000.00. PERFORMANCE PERIOD/SEQUENCE OF WORK A.The Work is to be performed as shown on the Contract Drawings. B. The Work under this Contract shall be completed as follows: 1. On-Site mobilization will begin on or about September 15, 2012. Construction of cofferdams and de-watering of UID canal shall begin on September 15, 2012. 2. Draining of existing canal and construction of the new canal including grading and 3. Construction of reinforced concrete lining shall commence after October 1, 2012 and shall be completed by March 15, 2013. Construction Contractor shall be responsible to provide a construction schedule to the government that will meet the performance period. 4. Construction of project elements beyond the limits of the canal lining, including retaining walls and maintenance roadway shall be completed by June 1, 2013. WORK UNDER OTHER CONTRACTS No physical construction work is anticipated to be performed at the Project site, under separate contract with other contractors, during the Contractor’s performance under this Contract. Construction Contractor will have to coordinate with Environmental Consultant and USIBWC’s Environmental Management Division (EMD) during the de-watering stage of the contract. The Environmental Consultant will be responsible for the relocation of all animal species prior to commencement of any Construction activities. This activity and coordination is crucial to the success of the project.
