Description
Sources Sought Notice for an in-situ 10 N High Load Module for Current Agilent G200 Nanoindentation Machine The Government is interested in obtaining information regarding an in-situ 10 N high load module for a current Agilent G200 Nanoindentation Machine. The Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) has recently made significant investments in acquiring instrumentation for micro and nano-scale materials characterization. Materials research using these instruments is ongoing and considered a growth area for the GSL. A materials testing high-load module is required, which will provide additional features including in-situ micropillar compression testing capabilities and indentation loading up to 10N for the existing Agilent G200 Nanoindentation machine. The Nanoindentation machine high-load head will support 6.2 DEFEAT projects, on-going 6.1 research projects in the Airfields and Pavements Branch (APB), the Concrete & Materials Branch (CMB), and the Survivability Branch (SVB) along with current and recently initiated center directed research projects. The 10 N high load module provides the ERDC researchers with the ability to characterize materials over a much larger load range. The Current limit for the maximum load is 500 mN. With the new module, we will have the ability to perform additional micromechanical experiments besides nanoindentation. Particularly, by using a flat punch indenter tip we will perform micropillar compression experiments on cementitious materials, biomaterials, single crystal metals, ceramics, and nanocomposites. Since we have limited amounts of the materials, it is very valuable to examine small samples with the load and displacement resolutions of the nano indenter. The Government is interested in any vendor that can furnish and deliver the system with the following specifications: Item: 1 in-situ 10 N High Load Module for current Agilent G200 Nanindentation Machine Brand: Agilent or equal Model: U9820AU or equal Saline Characteristics: a. Maximum load 1kg (10N) b. Load resolution: i. 50nN for forces 500mN ii. 1mN for forces > 500mN c. Maximum indentation depth 500 um d. Displacement resolution 0.01nm e. Automatic load range determination f. Automatic engagement in real time g. Frame stiffness 5 x 10e6 N/m h. Shall fit in the Agilent G200 system without affecting the quality of data obtained from the machine. i. Shall operate with the latest Agilent G200 software. This Sources Sought is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). This Market Survey is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this Market Survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this Market Survey. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted. The Government respectfully requests information on or before 12:00 PM CST, Monday, 16 July 2012. Please provide brochures, pamphlets or other marketing information to Anna Crawford, Contract Specialist, ERDC Contracting Office, 3909 Halls Ferry Road, Bldg. 1003, Vicksburg, MS 39180-6199, or email at Anna.Crawford@usace.army.mil.
