Description
ORTHOTIC CONTRACT The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has an ongoing program to furnish orthotic appliances and related services to those veterans that require them and are eligible for assistance. It is the intention of the VA Medical Center “ Erie, PA to solicit proposals and award multiple contracts on a competitive basis to preferred providers within a VA Medical Center ™s (VAMC) jurisdiction under the authority of Title 38 U.S.C. Section 8123. Orthotic appliances include custom made/custom fit braces, corset/belts, elastic hose, arch supports, shoe inlays, molded shoes, and orthotic shoes. Footwear and modifications must be prescribed by the appropriate VA clinician. Contractor shall provide services including evaluation, manufacture, fitting and adjustment of orthotic devices by its qualified Orthotists. The contractor will comply with the provisions of the Federal Privacy Act of 1974, (Public Law 93-579) and the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996, (Public Law 191-104) to ensure the utmost in patient confidentiality. Contract employees must successfully complete the VHA Privacy and Information Security, HIPAA and Rules of Behavior courses on an annual basis. All contract employees providing services at the Erie VAMC are required to comply with the facilities immunization policy. As such, contract employees must submit proof of health care requirements. No contract employee will be authorized to commence work until all health care requirements are met and cleared by Erie VAMC Employee Health. It is anticipated that the complete Request for Proposal will be issued on 07/16/2012.
