Description
This is a Request For Information (RFI) in regards to a NAVAIR requirement for a commercially available autoclave intended for the manufacture of composite aerospace components for the U.S. Navy. NAVAIR Lakehurst, NJ seeks potential sources and no cost product information of commercially available box furnace. This RFI is for planning purposes and information only and should not be construed as a solicitation for applications or an obligation on the part of the government. The government will not pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for the government's use of that information. Background The autoclave shall be used to manufacture composite components for Navy applications. This unit shall be a new, commercially available model. A commercially available model is defined as the Contractor's model which, on the date this solicitation is issued, has been designed, engineered, sold, or is being offered for sale through advertisements or the Contractor's published catalogue or brochures. Products such as a prototype unit, pre-production model, or experimental unit do not qualify as meeting the requirements specified herein. However, the Government will consider changes to an existing commercially available product design that may improve the efficiency, accuracy, or productivity of the machine or decrease its operational costs. The autoclave shall be capable of processing components at 900 degrees F and 250 psi. The autoclave shall provide vacuum and thermocouple monitoring to parts during processing. The autoclave shall have a working diameter of 120" and working length of 180". The autoclave shall be controlled via CPC software enabling custom processing cycles to be programmed and run. Information Requested Information in the following areas will assist NAVAIR Lakehurst in the development of its procurement strategy. Qualified vendors should provide the following: Product Literature: Brochures, catalogs, or other documents listing commercially available autoclaves; The literature should include information about autoclaves; Product Literature on the software being provided with the equipment; Equipment utility requirements; Detailed product descriptions of their autoclave; Foundation drawings and requirements for their autoclave (if one is required); Procurement history with their autoclave; Long-Term Reliability and maintainability data; including the expected life (in years); Product drawings and photographs of their autoclave. Typical production plans and installation time-frames. ** It is preferred that all measurements be stated in US Standard units.
