- Description
- Notice: This solicitation has been cancelled. The Office of Medical Services (MED) conducts two Continuing Medical Education (CME) training conferences annually to update and review pertinent health care problems encountered in the Foreign Service medical practice and to obtain the required continuing education credits to maintain state licensure and national board certification for health care providers. MED conducts CME training for Regional Medical Officers (RMOs), Regional Medical Officers Psychiatrists (RMO/Ps), Foreign Service Health Practitioners (FSHPs), Regional Medical Laboratory Scientists, and locally employed nurses and medical providers (physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants). The CME conference supports the participation of about 600 health care professionals each year consisting of the above Foreign Service and LES staff. MED is planning to hold CMEs in two locations in 2013 for nurses and medical providers. MED plans to hold the first CME in San Francisco, California in February 2013, and to hold the second CME in Miami, Florida in March 2013. It is for this reason, MED will invite most of our medical personnel from EAP region, SA region and NEA region to San Francisco, CA. In further support of the geographical location, MED will invite most of our medical personnel from WHA region, from AF region and EUR region to Miami, FL. By holding CMEs in two locations at different times each year, MED ensure adequate coverage of overseas health units. In addition, by dividing into two different locations, MED expects cost savings from airfare and hotel contracts. The East Coast/West Coast split will facilitate travel from the various posts proximate to the respective locations thereby saving time and additional costs.
