Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), intends to procure two Leica spectral/hybrid detector units (HyD SP Detectors) from Leica Microsystems. The Institute intends to purchase this equipment by other than full and open competition under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 6.302. The lab in NIAAA currently has the Leica TCS SP5 II system. These additional parts will upgrade the current microscope and provide greater sensitivity and contrast, allowing the lab to measure the length of dendritic spines in neuron cells. Only the Leica part will work with the existing Leica microscope software, fit in the Leica SP5 detector slot, and be supported by the current service contract. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within ten days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. Offerors may request a copy of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) in writing to the Contracting Office Address listed or via email to: muckt@mail.nih.gov prior to the closing date of this notice or before July 2, 2012 at 10:00 am EST. It is anticipated that RFQ - NIH-NICHD-12-046 will be available eleven days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due seven days after the release of the RFQ. All requests for quotations must have a valid email address. Email quotations must contain offerors name, address, telephone number and an authorized company representative signature. Any questions regarding this announcement must be sent via email to muckt@mail.nih.gov and must include solicitation # NIH-NICHD-12-046 in the subject line of email. PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive an award, contractor must be registered and have valid certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) (http://www.ccr.gov).
