- TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES This announcement is posted as a Request for Information only. This Request for Information is being issued to determine whether or not there are qualified sources that will be able to meet the requirements of an upcoming solicitation. The solicitation will be for Transplantation Services for inmates at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) located in Butner, North Carolina. The requirement will be for multiple organ transplantation services and technical personnel to provide transplantation medical services to inmates of multiple security levels. This includes providing community-based inpatient and outpatient services for the special category of organ transplantation services which conform to community standards and all local, state and Federal laws and regulations applicable to the delivery of health care to members of the general public. The services will include all institutional, professional, and clinical services necessary to determine the suitability of inmates referred by the FCC as candidates for potential transplant procedures; perform the transplant and associated procedures on designated candidates; and provide all required follow-up services. The following transplantation services are required: Liver transplant (Cadaveric and Living Related), Heart Transplant, Allogeneic (Related and Unrelated) Bone Marrow Transplant, Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant, and Cadaveric Kidney Transplant. Transplants must be performed in facilities that are approved by CMS to perform transplants for Medicare beneficiaries, or identified as a transplant center that is a member in good standing of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UMOS). Also, the facility shall be a member of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN). The place of performance of transplant and related services will ordinarily be at the facilities of a transplant center and its providers which must be within a 200 mile driving distance of the FCC. All future information about this acquisition will be distributed solely through this site.
