Description
This is a Small Business Set-Aside. The USGS Western Coastal and Marine Geology of Santa Cruz, CA requires non personal services of a geologist to perform Geographic Information Systems (GIS) studies and analysis of tsunami deposits located in the Caribbean, Sumatra, Japan, American Samoa, California and Alaska. At a minimum offerors shall have a background in marine and coastal geology and a general understanding of tsunami sediment transport to undertake this work. Offerors must be familiar with the collection and analysis of bathymetric and topographic data and the geologic analysis of clasts ranging from boulder to mud sized sediments, and must also have extensive experience using Arc/Info GIS software and graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They must be familiar with GIS analysis of satellite images and shoreline change analysis techniques using DSAS (Digital Shoreline Assessment System). Additionally, they must demonstrate technical writing and cartographic skills to produce reports, maps and figures to publication quality. Evaluation criteria are at least five years experience in 1) collecting and analyzing sedimentary data from tsunami deposits from modern and paleotsunamis; 2) Knowledge of geometries, sediment transport processes, and taphonomy of sand and boulder tsunami and storm deposits; 3) experience using the Digital Shoreline Assessment System to analyze extreme event shoreline change. All offerors must include these data including samples of technical writing and cartographic skills. Any offeror failing to provide the data for evaluation may be determined nonresponsive.
