Description
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing disposal of radioactive waste. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the transport and disposal of approximately 3750 gallons of tritiated water as Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW), with a total Tritium (H-3) activity content of 12 Curies. NIST requires that prospective vendors provide a statement with the following information: 1. How the vendor proposes to dispose of the 3750 gallons of LLRW. 2. Cite the relevant section(s) of the vendor's Radioactive Materials License that authorizes them to perform the proposed disposal method for the 3750 gallons of LLRW, and provide a copy of their license, with the relevant section(s) highlighted. 3. State where the vendor's site is located, and how the vendor proposes to transport the 3750 gallons of LLRW to the vendor's site. 4. Provide a description of the transport container and specifications, and state how it is suitable for transporting the 3750 gallons of LLRW, including any history of similar prior use. 5. Provide an estimate of the number of days for vendor's transport vehicle and container to arrive at NIST. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 562211, as those domestic sources having annual total sales of $12.5M or less. Please include your company's size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. Companies that can provide these services are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to todd.hill@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response should address items 1-5 above.
