- Solicitation Number: N62271-12-Q-2046 Notice Type: Request for Quote under FAR 6.302-1 This combined notice provides notice of the Government's intent to solicit a quote on a Brand Name Sole Source basis (FAR 6.302-1) for Pioneer Robotics for research and teaching purposes of the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Systems Engineering Departments at the Naval Postgraduate School. The Naval Postgraduate School requires acquisition of a common robotic platform to be used for interdisciplinary collaboration between the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Systems Engineering Departments. This equipment expands on current capability for theoretical analyses and exploratory studies by providing a common platform that will be used as a robotics system teaching tool and as a medium for conducting research and thesis work. Indoor robotic platform must have the following features: On board microcontroller with serial expansion ports compatible with Outdoor robotic platform Wheels and motors suitable for indoor work on laminate, carpet, and tile surfaces Front and Rear bumper sensors Front and Rear sonar sensors Encoders with resolution better than 72,000 Local port for joystick operation\ Additional battery compartments for extended operational time Outdoor robotic platform must have the following features: On board microcontroller with serial expansion ports compatible with Indoor robotic platform Wheels and motors suitable for outdoor applications on various terrains Front and Rear sonar sensors Encoders with resolution better than 72,000 Local port for joystick operation High-capacity charging capability Additional battery compartments for extended operational time Pioneer Robotics has been identified as the commercial product to fulfill the above requirements. The research platform foundation is existing Pioneer robots and the below commercial products are intended to replace and build off already existing equipment. Five Pioneer P3 DX robots -On board microcontroller with serial expansion ports -Front and Rear bumper sensors -Front and Rear sonar sensors -Five additional batteries for extended operational time Five Pioneer P3 AT robots -On board microcontroller with serial expansion ports -Front and Rear sonar sensors -Five additional batteries for extended operational time -High-Capacity chargers for reduced charge-time THIS RFQ OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, responsible interested parties may submit a proposal in which they identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. The Government will consider all information received by July 18, 1200 PST. A determination by the Government not to compete this procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not pay for any information received. Only responses via e mail will be accepted. No telephone responses will be accepted. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 541712.
