As those activities conclude, SAF/AQ has transferred the pre-MDAP ACAT 1D program responsibility to the Agile Combat Support Directoracte, Training Aircraft Division (ASC/WNZ). There is no further status to provide at this time. Please continue to monitor FedBizOpps as it will be used to communicate with industry in the future. For all correspondance relating to T-X, please contact the T-X Contracting Officer in the Training Aircraft Division, Mr Thomas Rickey, 937-904-4173 or email Thomas.Rickey@wpafb.af.mil. Timely completion of the Military Airworthiness Certification has been identified as a potential schedule risk to the T-X Program. Provided for all interested parties is MIL-HDBK-516B Expanded Version, Airworthiness Certification Criteria. This document establishes the overall set of airworthiness certification criteria used in the determination of airworthiness of all United States Air Force (USAF) manned and unmanned, fixed and rotary wing air vehicle systems. It is a foundational document to be used by the system program manager, chief engineer, and contractors to define their air system's airwothiness certification basis. The criteria contained within the document are qualitative in nature and should be tailored to identify a complete (necessary and sufficient) subset of applicable airworthiness criteria to establish the air vehicle system's certification basis. The standards and methods of compliance must be tailored to the needs of the program and serve to identify how compliance with the air vehicle system's certification bais will be measured and verified. The certification basis will form the basis of an agreement between the military airworthiness authority and the system program office regarding airworthiness requirements of the T-X air vehicle system and must be defined and approved by the Government prior to contract award. Compliance to the certification basis must be shown to achieve issuance of a Military Flight Release or Military Type Certificate and Military Certificates of Airworthiness for the T-X aircraft. Please refer to MIL-HDBK-516B Expanded Version and the USAF-issued Airworthiness Bulletins for further details regarding the USAF airworthiness certification process. Any further questions regarding this posting should be addressed to Mr. Thomas Rickey, (937)904-4173.
