Description
Specifications (DF) Spinning Antenna System REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: NRL-12-MI04 (DF) SPINNER ANTENNA GROUND MOUNT SYSTEM ASSEMBLY This is a request for information (RFI) issued by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) for information and planning purposes only. No awards will be made from the responses to this announcement. However, responses may be used to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for a future acquisition. The NRL's Space Systems Development Department (code 8100) is requesting information and rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimate of cost for a (DF) Spinner Antenna System. The Space Systems Development Department (SSDD) is the space and ground support systems research and development organization of the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST). The primary objective of the SSDD is to develop space systems to respond to Navy, Department of Defense, and national mission requirements with improved performance, capacity, reliability, efficiency, and/or life cycle costs. Together with the Spacecraft Engineering Department (SED), the SSDD derives system requirements from a mission, develops architectures in response to these requirements, and designs and develops systems, subsystems, equipment, and implementation technologies to achieve an optimized, integrated operational space and ground system. These development responsibilities extend across the entire space/ground spectrum of hardware, software, and advanced technologies including digital processing and control, analog systems, power, communications, command and telemetry, radio frequency, optical, payload, and electromechanical systems, as well as systems engineering. The NRL is requesting information from industry for a (DF) spinner antenna ground mount system assembly to be integrated in a VME chassis. The desired specifications are attached. NRL requests information on (DF) Spinner Antenna System that have comparable or better characteristics than those in the attached specifications. If NRL decides to purchase this tuner, NRL would issue a firm-fixed-price contract. Examples of what key evaluation criteria might be included in a potential future purchase are weight, heat output, environmental robustness, and cost. Interested parties should submit the information requested herein, as well as a ROM cost estimate. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of NRL to acquire any product or services. The NRL does not intend to award a contract based on this RFI or otherwise pay for the information requested. Submission of a response to this RFI is voluntary. The voluntary submission of a response to this RFI shall not obligate the NRL to pay or entitle the submitter to any compensation. All information and data received in response to this RFI marked or designated as corporate or proprietary information will be protected as such. Please transmit responses by e-mail to Malisa Mitchell, contract specialist, at malisa.mitchell@nrl.navy.mil in either Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Adobe pdf formats. All responses must be received on or before June 14, 2012, 12:00 p.m., Eastern daylight time (EDT). Other business opportunities for NRL are available at NRL's Web site at http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/rfplist.htm.
