Description
The Combat Casualty Care Research Program of the Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) provides integrated capabilities for far-forward medical care to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with major battlefield wounds and injuries. The USAMRMC is seeking information regarding novel prototype devices, analgesics, or anesthetics to treat pain on the battlefield. Interested firms should submit a 1-3 page whitepaper (with additional sheets for diagrams as necessary) describing such devices or drugs and the concept of use. Information will be reviewed pursuant to consideration for the development of a request for devices or drugs to be tested. As such, any descriptions of clinical use or test and evaluation studies will be of use. For the purposes of this request for information, we anticipate that devices/drugs: 1) Will be able to produce a minimum of 30% reduction in pain score when utilized alone 2) Have localized effect-not systemic effects on mental status or hemodynamics; 3) Can be applied or administered by a combat medic or self-administered or applied by the injured soldier; 4) Devices/Drugs should be capable of easy application and re-application; 5) Be less than 2 pounds; 6) Have a shelf life of at least two years; 7) Be under 2 cubic feet; 8) Have less than 10 minutes to onset of analgesia; 9) Have side effects in less than 5% of population
