- Description
- The Mission of this project includes renovation of the second floor of Building 26, a two story 177,000 square foot brick warehouse and office building constructed in the 1940s, primarily occupied by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) as a tenant. The first floor is primarily unused warehouse space with a few perimeter offices. The second floor is comprised of offices, conference rooms and training rooms along the perimeter and a large open office space with work stations in the center. The open office space is divided in the center by some common spaces such as break, lavatory, electrical and server rooms. The renovation includes upgrading the second floor HVAC and supporting electrical system, replacing the existing second floor lighting, ceilings, and sprinkler system and replacing the windows to meet the applicable Antiterrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) criteria. The existing Heating, Ventilating and Air conditioning (HVAC) system will be replaced with a new variable air volume (VAV) air handling system supplied by multiple roof-top units, equipped with chilled and heating hot water coils and an energy recovery heat exchanger. The existing wood and drop ceilings will also be removed and a new drop ceiling will be provided with new energy efficient lighting and a code compliant sprinkler system. The second floor windows will be replaced and provided with an ATFP steel reinforcement support system. The exterior walls will be furred out to conceal the window structural support system and to provide insulation to help increase the thermal value of the exterior walls. The site work will include parking/traffic changes that are required for the ATFP stand-off distance requirements.
