- AMENDMENT 01 DATED 01 JUN 2012: The first paragraph of the Request for Information is edited and a particular area of interest is added. --- The Air Force Research Laboratory Rome Research Site Operational Contracting office (AFRL/RIKO) is interested in learning about nanoscale chip fabrication facilities and production capabilities in the United States. One particular area of interest is the use of simple memristive devices and circuits in CMOS fab lines. Capable sources are invited to submit documentation, in the format requested below, which describes their facilities, production capabilities, recent experience, and ways of conducting business. Please note that this Request for Information is for planning purposes only. The information obtained from responses to this notice may be used to inform a future acquisition strategy and solicitation, should one be issued. The applicable NAICS code is 334413 with an associated small business size standard of 500 employees. All interested organizations are invited to respond. Please organize your response as follows: 1. Reply by email in a document not exceeding 15 pages. 2. Describe the facility in terms of equipment, dimensions, capacity, and related details. 3. Briefly address the experience and qualifications of personnel involved in chip production. 4. Describe the methods/processes used to produce nanoscale chips if provided a design by the Government. 5. Discuss materials, testing, inspection, quality control, risk management, supply chain, and other considerations involved in increasing your probability of successful production. 6. Briefly describe no more than five (5) previous or ongoing contracts / projects / efforts with government, commercial, academic, or other customers. Include a description of work, performance period, value, and current customer points of contact. 7. Describe your standard ways of conducting business with customers, to include pricing, production time, delivery, any special terms and conditions, or other relevant factors. Please submit your response to andrew.clark@rl.af.mil by 3 PM (ET) FRI 08 JUN 2012. Interested organizations are encouraged to be registered in Central Contractor Registration (CCR - https://www.bpn.gov/ccr/default.aspx), Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA - https://orca.bpn.gov), and Wide Area Workflow (WAWF - https://wawf.eb.mil). It is important to note that this Request for Information is not a Request for Proposal. No solicitation is being issued at this time. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. Any information provided to the Government as a result of this Request for Information is voluntary. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses or the Government's use of such information.
