- On or about 19 June 2012, this office will issue Invitations for Bid for construction of the Intake Dam Headworks, Retrofit Modifications, Lower Yellowstone Project, MT. The solicitation will close on or about 19 July 2012. This solicitation is RESTRICTED TO SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION It is highly suggested that Contractors attend the site visit, to allow them the best opportunity to fully understand the scope of this project. Prospective bidders will be given a site visit of the construction site on Wednesday, 27 June 2012 at 1:00pm local time. Contractors are to meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Crossroads Conoco on Highway 16 just south of the exit off of Interstate 94, in Glendive Montana. Contractors need to make reservations by e-mail to Thomas.W.Westenburg@usace.army.mil. In case of severe weather, Contractors will be notified by e-mail of an alternate date/time/meeting location. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See 'Obtaining Solicitation Documents' below. _______________________________________________________________________________ Project Description: (Approx. quantities) The successful contractor will be responsible for construction of a structural retrofit to the Yellowstone Intake headworks structure to address frost heave concerns. The window of construction for the principle structural retrofit will be limited by the dewatering of the irrigation canal behind the headworks following cessation of the 2012 irrigation season and the date of likely subslab frost impact which is to done Nov 1, 2012. Construction will include but not be limited to obtaining construction access, possible dewatering and temp road construction, removal of existing rip rap, placement of an insulation layer over the existing base slab of the structure, Placement of a concrete wear surface and additional mass concrete to a max thickness of 10 ft over the insulation, placement of an off slab insulation layer downstream of the current end of slab with an overlying 12 in thick concrete wear surface, modification and extension of the existing downstream rip rap blanket and site restoration. All site work must be 100% complete by 15 Dec, 2012. The estimated construction cost of this project is between$1,000,000 and $2,500,000. _______________________________________________________________________________ The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work (see project description above for completion times) after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
