Description
AMENDMENT 0002 DATED MAY 31,2012. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AMENDMENT IS TO PROVIDE DETAILED DESCRIPTION FOR THE MORBILLIVIRUS LABORATORY SERVICES AS REQUESTED BY A VENDOR/CONTRACTOR AND TO EXTEND THE SOLICITATION DUE DATE TO JUNE 5, 2012: QUESTION 0001. Provide more description of the services required. ANSWER: The Morbillivirus serum neutralization test is to be conducted using cetacean morbillivirus, phocine distemper virus, or canine distemper virus as indicator viruses. Choice of which viruses to use will depend on animal species but will be made by submitter. A highly sensitive PCR procedure is to be required for detection of morbillivirus in various submitted specimens. For this purpose, a nested reverse transcription PCR procedure is necessary. This allows for sensitive detection of any morbillivirus (including newly emerging ones), followed by sequencing to determine the specific morbillivirus involved. QUESTION 0002. How the samples are to be delivered to vendor and whether or not viral DNA or RNA isolations will have to be taken from samples first? Are there specific PCR cycle requirements? How many MBV types are to be detected? What are the reporting requirements for each sample? Are finished PCR products to be returned to government? ANSWER: Unprocessed or partially-processed samples consisting of EDTA blood, serum, various secretions (blowhole, urine, vesicular fluids), tissue (skin biopsies, organs, etc.), and extracted white blood cells are to be delivered to the vendor via FedEx overnight delivery. Shipments are received Tuesday to Saturday. Testing is to be conducted for the four known morbilliviruses (cetacean morbillivirus, phocine distemper virus, canine distemper virus, pilot whale morbillivirus), and any newly emerging morbilliviruses. Results for each sample are to be reported by vendor within one day of test completion via a.pdf attached to email. Typically the turn time from submission to result is 2-3 days if no sequencing is required, and up to 5 if sequencing is required. PCR products are not to be returned to government. EVERYTHING ELSE STAYS THE SAME. *************************************************************** THIS AMENDMENT 0001, DATED MAY 3, 2012, IS TO INCORPORATE CHANGES AS SHOWN IN THE SUMMARY OF CHANGES OF ATTACHED AMENDMENT 0001. THE CLOSING DATE AND TIME ARE EXTENDED TO MAY 8, 2012, 10 AM PST. ************************************************************* LAB SERVICES: MORBILLIVIRUS PCR TESTING = COST PER TEST, QTY = 100 SAMPLES MORBILLIVIRUS SERUM NEUTRALIZATION = COST PER TEST, QTY = 100 SAMPLES PLEASE SEE ATTACHED SOLICITATION N66001-12-T-6401
