Description
Combined Synopsis/Solicitation This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes/proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This requirement is a supply purchase for slash hand pile paper. The paper is referred to as kraft paper based on the function, which is used to cover slash piles, in order to keep the piled material dry. Paper is stretched over a pile of slash and then a small amount of material is put on top of the paper to anchor the paper. Then the material under the covered portion stays dry when there is snow or rain present and easy to ignite. Slash pile paper shall be water resistant, burnable and non-toxic. Types lined with non-toxic wax may be allowed. No tar-based slash pile paper shall be accepted. The Contractor shall utilize products and materials that promote energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, use of recovered materials, that are environmentally preferable, and are made from biobased materials (e.g. insulating foam, composite panels, and concrete with fly ash) to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing the intended end use or detracting from the overall quality delivered. When put into a pile the paper must be able to last for several months while the material in the pile cures. Paper shall come in rolls for stretching over piles and portability. One person needs to be able to carry a roll over forested ground (walking to and around thinning units). Width of rolls should not exceed 54 inches, and length of rolls should not exceed 300 feet, for ease of portability. The requirement is for approximately 1000 Rolls. The awarded amount may be more or less depending on unit pricing.
