- Description
- The mission of the Department of Veterans Administration (VA) is to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. VA will continue to be the benchmark of excellence and value in health care and benefits by providing exemplary services that are both patient centered and evidence based. In accordance with the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010, (Pub. L. No. 111-163), VA is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive National Caregiver Training Program for caregivers that are caring for eligible Veterans. The VA is committed to providing a high quality and easily accessible training program for caregivers to learn how to care for injured Veterans, as well as gain a better understanding of home safety principles, wellness and prevention, legal and financial issues, and caregiver self care. Health care services provided by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) are organized and delivered through 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISN) and 153 Medical Centers. The National Family Caregiver Training program must support multi-modal methods of delivery (self-study via workbook/CD/DVD and web-based). The Caregiver Self Care courses are to be delivered via a classroom setting, though the Contractor shall also be responsible for creating interactive content that shall be delivered by VA via podcast and on VA's website. Training must be capable of reaching caregivers of Veterans residing in both urban and rural areas. All personnel, materials and services to provide caregiver training will be provided by the Contractor. All aforementioned efforts shall include Contractor participation as requested by the COTR or PM in VA initiated workgroups and interaction with various VA customers to assist in the collection of data and/or program implementation issues. The solicitation for this program will be released late June or early July 2012.
