- RFI for Handheld devices THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THE PURPOSE OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION IS TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF POTENTIAL QUALIFIED SOURCES AND TO EXPLORE INDUSTRY CAPABILITIES. RESPONSES TO THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION WILL BE USED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ACQUISITION DECISIONS. The U.S. Government is seeking sources to provide hand held media players with support for Music, Video, Photo, and E-books. Hand held devices should be controlled via touch screen. Media for the device should only be accessible to the user via removable full sized SD memory card. Handheld devices should be of pocket size and capable of supporting Pashto and Dari languages. Handheld devices should be powered by internal rechargeable battery and capable of operating from a standard vehicle outlet charger and solar panel charger. Vehicle outlet and solar panel chargers should be provided as standard accessories. Solar panel charger should be of pocket-size dimensions and should serve as backup power source. The contractor will also provide an assessment capability to include but not limited to all necessary hardware and software to allow for digital exploitation of the removable SD Card. This assessment capability should track when files have been accessed from the SD Card, duration of access, and frequency of access. This assessment capability should occur from viewing the SD memory on a separate stand alone system, possess the ability to provide an assessment on multiple SD memory cards simultaneously, and provide summary usage statistics. The contractor shall also provide all necessary technology for duplicating data onto a minimum 50 SD cards concurrently from a standalone system and SD memory cards that each have a unique serial number that is visible on the outside of the card and digitally assigned to the respective SD memory card. Responses to this notice should include company name, address, point of contact, Cage Code, size of business pursuant to North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) and must respond to the following questions: 1) What experience does your company have in the areas of data mining and exploitation? 2) How much experience does your company have in providing custom solutions for information collection, extraction, analysis, and statistics? 3) How long from time of award would you expect a project of this nature to be ready for delivery? 4) What qualifications/certifications does your firm have? 5) What is the average work experience of your personnel? 6) Does your firm perform background checks? 7) Does your firm have a quality assurance plan in place? What quality assurance methods and quality standards does your firm use? 8) Do you currently have a government contract? This is not a request for proposals and in no way obligate the Government to award any contract. Responses must be received in email no later than 29 June 2012.
