Description
SUBJECT: Updated conservation status of Goldenseal (Hydrastis Canadensis) This announcement constitutes the only notice. This is not a request for quotes. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses must be received no later than 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 by sending an e-mail to Pedro_Rubio@fws.gov; however, any technical data received will be for the sole purpose of market research for future requirements. Under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), Fish & Wildlife Services, Region 9 Contracting and General Services intends to issue a sole source, firm-fixed price order to: COMPANY: NatureServe FOR : Updated conservation status of Goldenseal. ON: May 15, 2012 NAICS: 541620- Environmental Consulting Services 541370- Surveying and Mapping Services AUTHORITY: 13.106(b) Soliciting from a single source The sole source is to award to NatureServe a potential servicing contract from 05/21/2012 thru 04/30/2012 to provide update conservation status of goldenseal. Goldenseal (Hydrastis Canadensis) is a plant native to the United States that is harvested for medicinal uses and was listed in CITES Appendix II in 1997 to ensure that it is not overharvested for the purposes of international trade. At public request, the US Fish and Wildlife Service is reviewing whether this species should remain listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Due to changing threats, conservation actions and natural events, the conversation status of a species can change over time. Consequently, conservation status must be regularly reviewed. At project completion, contractor must have updated the conversation status of Hydrastis Canadensis in NatureServe Global Rank and the IUCN Red List systems. The contractor must research the current literature and available database to update population status and threats information.
