- The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract to upgrade to capture effect Glide Slope (GS) serving Runway 09R at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in strict accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. Work under this project consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Placement of a Government-Furnished 7.5' x 12' wood frame, pre-fabricated GS equipment shelter on existing parking/turnaround area immediately next to the existing Runway 09R GS shelter.2. Installation of secondary power cables in underground 2" GRSC from the pre-fab shelter's disconnect switch to existing main disconnect on exterior power rack. 3. Relocation of fiber optic cable. This cable shall be disconnected, pulled back to the nearest manhole, ducts rerouted to the new shelter and then the cable re-pulled and re-terminated into the new shelter.4. Replacement of LLWAS power and RF cable. These cables are to be removed from the existing 3" underground duct, new ducts rerouted to the new shelter and new cable installed between the shelter and the LLWAS facility.5. Relocation of PAPI power and control cables. These cables shall be disconnected, pulled back to the access point, ducts rerouted to the new shelter and then the cables re-pulled and re-terminated into the new shelter.6. Relocation of RVR power and control cables. These cables shall be disconnected, pulled back to the access point, ducts rerouted to the new shelter and then the cables re-pulled and re-terminated into the new shelter7. Modification of an existing reinforced concrete foundation for preparation of a new Glide Slope antenna tower.8. Erection of a Government-Furnished antenna tower, mounting of antenna elements and mounting channels, installation of climbing ladder and safety-climb cable, and installation of conduits overhead to junction boxes. Obstruction light operation required prior to dusk. 9. Installation of tower lightning protection, bonding, and perimeter grounding system.10. Expansion of an existing paved parking/turnaround area.11. Removal of 10' x 12' pre-fab GS equipment shelter and concrete pier foundation.12. Miscellaneous civil and electrical work. Contract performance time is 160 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of July 9, 2012. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $250,000 and $500,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT.
