- SMALL BUSINESS OUTREACH May 23, 2012, 10AM-2PM Washington, DC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, ASSISTANCE SECRETARY FOR PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE LOCATION: Washington, DC BUILDING: Hubert Humphrey CONFERENCE ROOM: Great Hall OVERVIEW HHS/ASPR is inviting Small Businesses to participate an opportunity to promote their product and services and exchange helpful information for doing business with the federal government. What We Do The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (formerly the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness) was created under the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act in the wake of Katrina to lead the nation in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters. ASPR focuses on preparedness planning and response; building federal emergency medical operational capabilities; countermeasures research, advance development, and procurement; and grants to strengthen the capabilities of hospitals and health care systems in public health emergencies and medical disasters. The office provides federal support, including medical professionals through ASPR's National Disaster Medical System, to augment state and local capabilities during an emergency or disaster. At this event the type of commodities we're looking for are short-term equipment leases, tools, office equipment, clothing, generators, etc. REGISTRATION Registered companies will be provided a six foot table, two chairs and an electrical outlet.
