Description
Purpose of this announcemnet is to extend the solicitation close out date from Monday, May 7 @ 1:00 pm EST to Wed May 16, 2012 @ 2:00 pm EST. Listed below are questions and answers that were asked concerning this solicitation. Q1: What is the density of the Hemlocks in the treatment area? A1: As stated in the PWS, (The Contractor is responsible for field checking site conditions prior to submitting a bid.) In this site condition evaluation; contractor will arrive at estimate of stem density to create a bid. Though some sites on contract have been systemically treated before; acreage of some sites has been expanded and / or health of trees has changed in sites. These factors would undermine any reasonable estimate based on prior treatments. Roads / trail treatment sites have high density and low density areas; again, these areas should be evaluated before creating a bid. This being said: A rough estimate of stems per acre has been provided to CO and is available upon request. Q2: Have all trees been treated before? A2: No. Some trees have had a previous treatment and others have not. Work on all sites as a "blank slate". Stay within the outlined acreage and treat trees by contract protocol, regardless of the paint scheme observed. Other Notes: Chimney Tops trail, Site# 2, will be in a construction phase this Summer and Fall and closed to public. HWA service Contract will be allowed in this area. Cosby Knob, Site #13, is a Cortect Treatment with imidacloprid tablets. Treatments are with 2 tabs per inch Dbh for 20". Also note that the mix volume for Safari is greater than has been used on past treatments in the Park: The below statement is found in PWS. All hemlock trees in selected sites for dinotefuran treatments will receive (Safari 20SG) through soil drench, or soil injection with a Kioritz soil injector. All treatments will be made with a solution of 3 pounds Safari 20SG and enough water to equal 552oz in final volume, using an application rate of: (1.2gai /grams active ingredient) to 1 inch of tree diameter at dbh (4.5 feet from the ground) for trees =>20"dbh:::and::::(.6gai /grams active ingredient) to 1 inch of tree diameter at dbh for trees <20.
