Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Safety Research (DSR), Analysis and Field Evaluation Branch (AFEB), 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505, hereby announces its intent to issue a purchase order with three option years to the Old Dominion University for the purpose of the contractor's principal investigator to provide support to NIOSH in the development and management of a collaborative project entitled "Workplace Violence Prevention Programs in NJ Healthcare Facilities". The purpose of this project is to evaluate the impact of the New Jersey Violence Prevention in Healthcare Facilities Act regarding the reduction of workplace violence related injuries in a representative sample of health care facilities throughout the State of New Jersey. Scope of Work: The contractor's principle investigator will collaborate with NIOSH to: conduct face-to-face interviews with the chairs of Violence Prevention committees; collect assault injury data from facility violent event reports three years pre-regulation (2009-2011) and three years' post-regulation (2012-2014); assist with conducting a mail survey of nurses; and assist with data analysis and dissemination. They will also collaborate with NIOSH to enroll healthcare facilities that fall under the regulations (i.e. general acute care hospitals (GAC) a psychiatric facilities). Currently, there are a total of 73 licensed acute care facilities in New Jersey. A sample of 10 hospitals from each of the five stratum of hospital types (i.e. Trauma I, Trauma II, GAC<300 beds, GAC >=300 beds, Psychiatric) will be recruited for study participation until a total of 50 hospitals are enrolled. Forty-nine hospitals that participated in the previous California/New Jersey study that are still open will be included. Responsible sources that believe they possess the expertise and capabilities identified above are encouraged to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, their written capabilities statement and pricing information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to an award of a federal contract. The website is www.ccr.gov. The Government will review any/all capabilities statements and pricing information submitted and determines if other qualified sources do exist that could provide this requirement. Information received in response to this announcement will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), negotiations will be conducted with Old Dominion University, College of Health Sciences, School of Community and Environmental Health, 4608 Hampton Blvd., Room 3134, Norfolk, VA 23529, as the only source and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
