Description
Service contract for "Continuing rat bone research project at University of North Carolina" The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Healthcare System, Gainesville, FL intends to negotiate and procure service on a sole source basis of continuing rat bone research at University of North Carolina. The service is for NF/SG Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, Research Department, Gainesville, FL 32608. The service is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-3, research capability and expert services can only be provided by this source as research is currently in progress. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science (NAICS 611310) has been performing this bone density experiment for the past two years. Continuous, uninterrupted progress is necessary for the validity of the research. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any vendor that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer by December 21, 2011, 9:00am. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Specialist via e-mail at Sarita.foxworth@va.gov or send a fax to (352)-381-5747. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the NF/SG VA Medical Center will proceed with the sole source negotiation with University of North Carolina as noted herein. Cost associated with the preparation and submission of information and/or any follow-up information requests are the responsibility of the vendor and these costs will not be reimbursed by the Government.
