Description
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) welcomes the Mentor Protégé Program. The Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protégé Program assists small businesses (protégés) successfully compete for prime contract and subcontract awards by partnering with large companies (mentors) under individual, project-based agreements. Through this effort DoD provides incentives to major contractors to assist protégé firms and increase their overall participation as prime contractors and/or subcontractors. Mentors accomplish this by providing technical and development assistance to the protégé. Approved mentor firms will enter into mentor-protégé agreements with eligible protégés. A complete description of the DoD program and eligibility requirements is provided in Appendix I of the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Policy and procedures for the program, the list of potential DIA mentors and a copy of DFARS Appendix I can be found at the DIA-Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) website at http://www.dia.mil/contracting/small-business/guide_pilot.html The DIA OSBP is seeking the benefits from this business relationship. Mentor-Protégé agreements should be creative, unique, and capable of providing the necessary tools for a small business to support DoD and DIA's mission. The Agency is looking for industry support in the areas such as science and technology; software development; systems engineering; analytical services; and performance and program Management. Successful mentor-protégé agreements provide a winning relationship for the protégé, the mentor, and the DoD. The Phase I of the Mentor-Protégé process, executive summary for Fiscal Year 2012 is due by the end of 3rd quarter FY 12 or NLT June 30, 2012. The POC of the DIA Mentor-Protégé program is Ms. Sherry Baldwin, sherry.baldwin@dodiis.mil, 202-231-2166.
