8The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 21 is issuing a Commercial Item Request for Proposals (RFP) in accordance with FAR 12.203 to provide Preventative Maintenance for Two STERRAD Sterilization Systems: The VA requests pricing for 48 months of service. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a proposal is being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This procurement is a sole-source justified action as ETHICON, INC is the manufacturer of the equipment and the only known supplier to provide certified technicians to inspect, calibrate, and maintain the equipment to the manufacturer's specifications. The simplified acquisition procedures of FAR Part 13 will be used in conjunction with commercial items procedures of FAR Part 12. The NAICS is 811219 and the Small Business Size Standard is $19.0 Million. The solicitation number is VA261-12-R-0770.
