- Description
- This is not a solicitation. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as an obligation on the part of the Government. This is NOT a Request for Quotations or Proposals. No solicitation document exists and a formal solicitation may or may not be issued by the Government as a result of the responses received to this RFI. The Government will not pay for any response or demonstration expenses. Any information received will become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. This RFI is issued for market research, analysis, and planning necessary to successfully implement an industry best practice, enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery (DR) processing infrastructure and its related processes in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information & Technology (OI&T). This includes creating and assisting in applying an overarching OI&T DR platform solution, including tools, templates, guidance, and support necessary to apply it to OI&T programs, projects, and activities. The continuation of the approach will emphasize the continuity of existing services and the definition of a plan to streamline, unify, or merge redundant solutions into an enterprise DR approach with particular emphasis on an understanding of the criticality of systems and acceptable degrees of tolerance in the event of a failure. The long-term task is to refine and standardize DR and platform capability to be inclusive of all application deployments housed on both physical and/or virtual servers, including DR switch-over of all systems, applications and dependencies at VA data centers, allowing VA OI&T and staff to operate more efficiently and effectively The RFI will be posted immediately following the sources sought notice under RFI number VA118A-12-I-0101.
