- Description
- DOT-Maritime Administration is seeking sources to provide filtration media to trap sediment, debris, oil and hydrocarbons washed away by stormwater runoff onboard Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet vessels. Straw-like material will not be acceptable. Interested sources are to provide their product information/specification sheet(s) and Material Safety Data Sheet(s) to the contracting Officer along with Company contact information, business size and economic status and DUNS. Provide this information through email to Debbie.velmere@dot.gov Subject Line: DTMA94Q20120018. Facsimiles can be submitted to (415)744-2576, Attention Debbie Velmere Subject: DTMA94Q20120018. Please send an email to convey that a facsimile has been sent to allow Contracting Officer the opportunity to retrieve from the mail room. 1. Standard Wattles: Weighted in some way so they will require little or no securing against runoff flow. Composed of a dense media that can allow sediment and debris to be trapped inside without passing them through, such as fine, compacted gravel or compacted crushed walnut shells. Not overly absorbent that they cannot continue to filter water through the life of the product. Permeable, with a durable, sock-like casing. Flexible so they can be bent into a U-shape or circle with an approx 12" - 16" radius. UV-resistant. Long lasting, with an expected life of 12 to 18 months before deteriorating. Cleanable and reusable within its expected life. High visibility color on exterior casing. Size: 2. Wattles with hydrocarbon absorption: Weighted in some way so they will require little or no securing against runoff flow. Composed of a biodegradable material that has a high degree of efficiency absorbing oil and other hydrocarbons from stormwater runoff. Size: Hydrocarbon absorbing wattle: 4 feet long x 4 inch diameter, 6 foot long x 4 inch diameter. 3. Filtration Matting: Provide sediment control mat to act as a filter in order to trap sediment and debris that may be washed away by stormwater runoff. Three dimensional woven natural fiber mesh material. Composed of a blend of cocoa and animal fibers having a mesh density of 3.5 ounces per square foot that helps minimize occlusion and blinding while filtering at high volumes. The exterior edge of the Sediment Control Mat is to be fitted with a netted polyester fiber that is designed to capture 100% of debris at 5mm or greater in size. UV-resistant, long lasting, with an expected life of 12 to 18 months before deteriorating. Cleanable and reusable within its expected life. Sediment Control mats shall be biodegradable and may be re-used. Size: 6 feet wide x 72 feet long x 1.5 inches thick.
