- This project involves clearing, limbing and mulching of hardwood and pine midstory trees using a tracked or rubber-tired heavy duty cutter with a front mounted rotary drum flail cutter head or fixed tooth fecon-type cutter head. The mechanical midstory treatment will be performed at 9 (nine) sites, which includes a total of 209 acres for the purpose of controlling hardwood competition and improving quality of habitat for the Red-cockaded Woodpecker. The period of performance shall begin at the time of award. Work must be completed no later than June 15, 2012. The NAICS code for this project is 113110. The estimated price is in the range of $30,000 to $150,000. The solicitation will be available for viewing and/or downloading from website, www.fbo.gov, on or about April 19, 2012. Interested parties are invited to attend a pre-bid meeting and site showing on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Meet at the DPW-Environmental Division Conference Room located at 2563 Essayons Way, Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Directions to the pre-bid conference are as follows depending upon type of transportation and gate of entry: Motorists traveling in personal vehicles may enter through any of the open gates provided that all personnel in the vehicle have a valid government issued identification (ie. Driver's License). Security personnel may scan your ID and ask for the purpose of your visit. For individuals driving a Privately Operated Vehicle who wish to enter through Gate #2 (Forest Drive at Exit 12); after leaving the security checkpoint at Gate #2, continue on Strom Thurmond Blvd to the 3rd traffic light (Marion Ave.). Turn right on Marion Avenue and go approximately 0.25 mile past the 2nd traffic light. Turn left onto Engineer Road and go to the stop sign at end of road. Park in unmarked spaces in the parking lot adjacent to the building. For individuals driving commercial or company-owned vehicles, enter Gate #4 (Percival Road). For vehicles that enter Fort Jackson using Gate #4 (contractor entrance) at Boyden Arbor and Percival Road (Hwy.12), this entrance is accessed from Exit 15 (Percival Road West) off I-77. Follow signs to the first traffic light at highway overpass. After you have departed the security checkpoint, continue on Boyden Arbor to the stop sign. Turn right onto Dixie Rd. for 0.8 miles. Turn left onto Hampton Parkway (divided 4 lane road) and go 0.35 mile. Turn right onto Marion Avenue, (not Kemper St.) that is a 2 lane street at this point and will later widen to 4 lanes. Marion Avenue travels directly in front of the Army Drill Sergeant School. Continue on Marion Avenue and travel approximately 0.25 mile past the 3rd traffic light. Turn left onto Engineer Road and go to the stop sign at end of road. Park in unmarked spaces in parking lot adjacent to the building. A site showing will follow immediately after the pre-bid meeting.
