Description
This Presolicitatioin is provided as notice of the scheduled shipceck for 0800, local time, Hawaii, 29 March 2012. The VR will be a total small business set-aside. Interested parties are to contact Chief Engineer (ChEng) Lars Andres, USNS KAISER,, Cell # 619 533-7229 to coordinate and confirm attendance. The shipcheck is to provide interested parties with the opportunity to assess the requirements, and entertain recommendations, as to approach in performing repairs to the CFW Valve. No work is to be performed during the ship check. Other work may be incorporated into the formal solicitation, which will be issued at a later date; along with applicable clauses. Please designate POC for shipcheck attendance confirmation. See www.msc.navy.mil contracts library for Rapid Gate, EPIC and SHIP ACCESS instructions. KAISER VR is scheduled to commence April 16, 2012, with Performance Period or 16 April thru 29 April. With regard to the eventual performance of repairs during the VR, the following description of the work scope, limited to the CFW valve, is provided: Remove approx 3,000 Gallons of CFW water and retain for re-use. The water must be back on board the same day because CFW effects the Air conditioning, chill and freezer boxes. Remove 16" Leslie valve from system and install fabricate and install a spool piece so the system can be put back on line the same day. Spool piece to be turned over to ship once removed for future use. 16" Leslie shall be transported to contractor's ship foe a class "A" Overhaul. Once valve is repaired the contractor shall have to remove and retain approx. 3,000 gallons of CFW and return back to system once Leslie valve is install. Pearl Harbor Hawaii Performance Period for VR is 16 APR 12 thru 29 APR 12.
