Description
Statement of Work GHSU Small Animal Imaging Core Facility Service Contract A.Work to be performed: The service that will be offered by the CIFSA will include but not be limited to the following: "MR imaging: The facility will provide MR imaging for small animals (up to 500g in weight). The facility will offer whole body T1W, T2W, T2*W and other imaging protocols specific to MR such as quantitative MRI protocols (e.g., T1 mapping). " Bioluminescent imaging: The Xenogen 2-D (and 3-D) imaging systems are available for non-invasive whole body imaging to detect bioluminescent and fluorescent images from both small animal (rats and mice) and other tissue (cells, etc.. " MR Data Analysis: CIFSA offers the use of software for image analysis. The facility staff is also available for image manipulation into qualitative and quantitative data for publication and other use. * include the ownership and transfer of data interest. "Imaging consultation: The CIFSA staff is also available to aid in the design and execution of projects that involve either MR or bioluminescent /fluorescent imaging. "Image analysis services include: oTissue segmentation oVolumetric analysis of tissues/pathology oSpatial image normalization of multiple animals oFunctional analysis of cardiac motion oQuantitative and statistical reduction of imaging data B.Location of work: The Small Animal Imaging Core Laboratory is located in the Cancer Research Building at GHSU (CN5162) and contains 2100 sq feet of lab and office space consisting of an imaging facility, animal storage facilities and data analysis room. The facility is opened from 8:00 am - 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. C.Period of performance: May 1, 2012 thru September 30, 2012 D.Applicable performance standards: The Core Imaging Facility for Small Animals (CIFSA), commissioned to provide MRI and optical imaging resources of small animals, is a core facility serving the needs of a multi-departmental/multi-disciplinary research community in order to advance the clinical and biomedical sciences In particular, efforts of the CIFSA are intended to achieve the ultimate goals of providing a better understanding of the pathophysiology of disease development and progression, and providing a better evaluation of the pharmaceutical intervention efficacy in the battle of those diseases. The facility is sanctioned to perform this imaging by GHSU and all governing bodies within the university. E.When work is to be performed: Work will be scheduled during regular working hours, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, excluding holidays. Work will be pre-scheduled with the facility and will be determined on the availability of the MRI. F.Describe how work is to be performed: Imaging of the brain structure of control and diabetic rats by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). 12 animals will be imaged twice during the progression of diabetes. Imaging of each animal will be about 1.5 hrs. The animals will be transported from the GHSU animal facility by Dr. Ergul's laboratory technicians to the core facility where the imaging will take place and afterwards they will be transported back by Dr. Ergul's laboratory technicians to Dr. Ergul's GHSU laboratory were the animals will be sacrificed.
