Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Life Science Group, 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547, for Item 1855195, CFX96 Touch System, which includes #1707369, computer laptop with operational software, installation, and training. (PC laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz, 800 MHz Bus Speed, Intel GM965 Express chipset, 2.5 GB memory, 160GB serial ATA 5400 rpm hard drive, DVD-Writer dual layer, 15.4” WXGA widescreen active Matrix TFT color LCD display screen, shared graphics, wireless, firewire, keyboard, Windows XP Professional 32bit.) Unit must be able to open and analyze existing Bio-Rad IQ data files that have been compiled in past years with Bio-Rad instruments. Unit optical system must allow excitation and detection of up to five fluorescent dyes in a single reaction well. Unit optics shuttle must independently illuminate and detect fluorescence from each well using a system of six filtered LEDs for illumination which differentially detects emission using six filtered photodiodes (one for each channel). Unit has a fixed optical path, directly over each well, eliminating the need to normalize for positional bias. One change is dedicated for FRET experiments-illuminates dyes with absorption spectra in the 450-490 nm range and detects dyes with emission spectra in the 560-580 nm range. System reads all 96 wells in all channels within 12 seconds. In fast scan mode, the system reads all 96 wells within 3 seconds. Has linear dynamic range of 10 orders of magnitude for detection of input samples. Detects one copy of target sequence in human genomic DNA. Detects less than or equal to 10 fmol of fluorescein. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may use e-mail to identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement before the expiration date of the advertisement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
