Description
NOTICE OF DECISION TO CONTRACT WITH A SINGLE-SOURCE:The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI), proposes to acquire by single source acquisition, a new acceleration type impact sled system having a closed loop, feedback control. This impact sled system will be used to evaluate the impact of new materials, structures, and equipment on aircrew and passenger safety, particularly as it relates to crash worthiness and survival issues. The FAA, Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, intends to award to Seattle Safety, LLC of Kent, WA (DUNS Number 963768544) for the required equipment and services. This procurement is considered to be single-source based on specialized expertise, patents, proprietary data, and unique items. The NAICS code for this effort is 541712 "Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology)" with a size standard of 500 employees. Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. This Notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has a program to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
