- Note: The PWS has been slightly altered. If your company has already responded to the previous sources sought announcement for this acquisition, please reply to the primary POC with whether you are still interested or no longer interested in this opportunity. The United States Air Force (USAF) intends to increase the use of refurbished bearings, as opposed to procure all new aerospace bearing, to meet weapons systems supply demands. The USAF has made the strategic decision to pursue the public capability for Level I-II aerospace bearing inspection and refurbishment and associated engineering. Further, the strategic decision is to establish a single process and standard of quality, for inspecting, repairing, and refurbishing all USAF Aerospace bearings. The capability will initially be established at Hill, Tinker, and Robins Air Force Bases. The objectives of the initiative are as follows: expand the business base of aerospace bearing refurbishment; expand the pool of potentially reparable defense aerospace bearings, including other service and federal agency systems; improve item level cost, quality and/or schedule performance through aerospace bearing refurbishment; reduce Air Force total ownership cost through aerospace bearing refurbishment.
