- Description
- The purpose of this admendment is to clarify estimated quantity of units, the performance period of contract and solicitation posting date. As a result, the estimated quantity of Allison Transmission battery packs required will be approximately 11 units. The expected performance period will be one base year with one option year. Solicitation posting date will be on/about March 23, 2012. This will be a procurement action based on a Brand Name Justification stated below. The National Park Service operates a visitor shuttle bus system in Yosemite National Park. This system consists of twenty-two hybrid electric diesel 39 passenger buses manufactured by Gillig Corporation, Hayward, California. Eighteen buses were purchased by NPS for Yosemite in 2005; four additional hybrid electric diesel buses were acquired in 2011. The power system of these buses consists of an electric battery pack and diesel engine. The battery pack has a useful life of approximately six years, at which time electric storage system (ESS) refresh battery kits/conversion kits are needed to keep the buses operating. The eighteen buses acquired in 2005 are in need of refresh/conversion kits. Electric storage system (ESS) Refresh Kit and ESS1 to ESS2 Conversion Kit are an assimilation of electric propulsion components and parts provided by Allison Electric Drive, the original engine manufacturer (OEM) of the Gillig hybrid electric diesel 39 passenger buses which comprise the park's visitor transportation (shuttle bus) system. The ESS Refresh Kit/ESS1 to ESS2 Conversion Kit is a package of engine parts and components specified by the OEM for the Gillig hybrid electric diesel buses. The Electric storage system (ESS) Refresh Kit and ESS1 to ESS2 Conversion are the only package of components and parts specified by the OEM. The refresher kit package provided by Allison Electric Drive meets all the specifications of the Gillig power system. No other refresher kit/conversion kit package is provided or specified for the Gillig power system. The ESS Refresh Kit is essential to the continued operation of the electric propulsion system of the Gillig hybrid electric diesel buses. Each refresher kit lasts approximately six years. The original fleet of 18 Gillig hybrid diesel buses was delivered in May 2005. All other information posted on original announcement remain unchanged.
