****ATTENTION****FORMAL COMMUNICATION RELATED TO THIS ACQUISITION SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO Dexter J. Hornsby, Contracting Officer, (256) 876-5045 or Cindy Stinson, Contract Specialist, (256) 842-6009. This requirement is for Performance Based Logistics (PBL) support services necessary to sustain the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) hardware. This effort is for a PBL acquisition of repair, obsolescence management, reliability tracking and other related sustainment functions in support of the CMWS used to protect Department of Defense aircraft. The sustainment functions will include Engineering Services for Obsolescence and Failure Analysis, Inventory Management, Configuration Management, Quality Assurance, and Repairs to the CMWS Electronic Control Unit, Electro Optic Missile Sensor, Sequencer, and the Smart Dispenser. Inspection and Acceptance will be at Origin. FOB Point is Destination. This requirement is planned as a sole source buy to BAE Systems, (CAGE Code 94117) under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, 'Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.' Firms that recognize and can produce the required items described above are encouraged to identify themselves. The period of performance is a five year contract; base year with four additional one-year options. This synopsis is for notification of subcontracting opportunities. Subcontracting opportunities must be arranged between the prime and any potential subcontractors. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. It is anticipated that a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued on or about 23 March 2012, with a proposal due date of 23 April 2012. The closing date annotated is an estimated date and may be adjusted dependent upon the date of release of solicitation; however, the solicitation will not close prior to the date stated above.
