- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 15.201(e). NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting a market survey to obtain information on responsible sources that hold General Services Administration (GSA Federal Supply Schedules contract and have the capability to provide pre-printed and blank Item Unique Identification (IUID) labels and adhesives The labels must meet all Data Matrix ECC200 standards for construct #1 and construct #2, MIL-STD 130N, and MIL-STD 129 requirements without modification. Application requirements for label material, size and adhesive type will be based on surface material and size of the equipment to be marked. IUID labels shall be constructed of various materials such as photosensitive aluminum substrate, CO2 laser writeable aluminum, and zebra printable thermal transfer tape labels, and must be able to withstand extended exposure to sand, dusts, salt spray, humidity, chemicals, oil, cleaners, water, and unfiltered sunlight including ultraviolet (UV) without deteriorating the mark s readability (e.g., fading). Vendor is expected to provide appropriate Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) capable of permanently adhering to curved and non-curved surfaces when applied to Silencers, Flash Suppressors, RCO Scopes, Inconel 718 Mortars, Base-X Tents, Communications Security (COMSEC) Equipment, and Pelican cases. When providing information on the PSA, vendor is requested to state the manufactures adhesive number along with the labels. Required thickness for aluminum labels will range from.003 to.005 = +/-.002 and.020 = +/-.002 ; label sizes range from 3/8 diameter circular label to 1.50 length x 0.75 width rectangular label. Required size for Zebra printable thermal transfer tape label size will be 2 length x 4 width. Aluminum labels shall be matte black and zebra printable thermal transfer tape labels shall be silver, white, black, or transparent (clear). Vendors are encouraged to provide production capability and lead times, warranty terms and conditions, and recommended surface preparation and shelf life for applicable labels. Test data, drawings, pictures and brochures demonstrating capabilities are encouraged, but not required. The MARCORSYSCOM will use the results of this announcement to determine what capabilities exist in the marketplace. MARCORSYSCOM will not pay or provide reimbursement for any costs incurred in the preparation or delivery of the request for information. Interested firms are requested to submit a response in a Microsoft Office compatible format, not to exceed 10 pages, outlining their ability to meet or exceed the requirements identified above no later than 4:00 PM Local Time, 3 February 2012. Firms should also include their business size/type, and past performance if applicable. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.
