- Description
- Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 263-12-0020 The purpose of this project is to create a core group of STM teachers and professionals with deep understanding of the U.S. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education concepts and processes, and the necessary skills to become effective STM teachers and educators. The returned training participants will contribute to increasing the quality of science and mathematics education in the pre-university education system. This activity aims at building the knowledge and capacity of a group of 22-25 educators (teachers, administrators and mentors) of the recently established Science, Technology and Mathematics (STM) High School for gifted students in Egypt. This short-term US-based training will provide the STM School educators with the opportunity to observe State-of-the-art teaching, learning, management, and administration of the successful Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Schools in the U.S. It will also build their capacity through a blend of activities that will include classroom training in STEM teaching and learning, visits to highly performing STEM schools, shadowing of school administrators, teachers and technicians, and learning about continued professional development and teachers' preparation of STEM educators. In addition, the participants will need to learn about the role of civil society, universities and research institutes in improving quality and relevance of STEM education in the U.S.
