Description
This notice is provided for information purposes only. NASA LaRC awarded a firmfixed price contract to Amprius Inc. for the effort entitled High Capacity SiliconNano-Wire Anode Development. This award results from a competitive selection under theNational Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Headquarters Office of ChiefTechnologist (OCT) Game Changing Technology (GCT) Division Broad Agency Announcement(BAA) NNH11ZUA001K, entitled 'Unique and Innovative Space Technology'.The GCT Division of OCT focuses on maturing advanced space technologies that may lead toentirely new approaches for the agencies future space missions and solutions tosignificant national needs. Successful products of GCT will provide or lead torevolutionary advances in capability. These advances will enable missions that cannototherwise be accomplished or that significantly enhance mission performance from currentcapabilities. NASAs open call for Space Technology Grand Challenges identifies the mass and lifetimelimitations of power sources as mission-limiting technology and one of four criticalareas for managing in-space resources. The focus of this one year effort is to developthe chemistry that will allow for the manufacture of ultra-high capacity battery cellsthat will function within the extremes that characterize a NASA manned space mission.
