Description
STATEMENT OF WORK and EVALUATION FACTORS URGENT and EMERGENT ON CALL GASTROENTEROLOGIST 1) Services: The Contractor shall furnish the service of one (1) board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist specialist who will perform urgent and emergent on call services (nights, weekends and holidays) that shall include, but not limited to the following: a)Be available during nights, weekends and holidays to provide emergency GI consultation and urgent management of patients already receiving GI consultative services, and perform procedures in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center (Mountain Home, Tennessee) Endoscopy Lab. b)All procedures will be performed by ABIM board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterologists. c)Sedation preference will be at the discretion of the Contract Gastroenterologist. Appropriate support staff (CRNA, nursing personnel, etc) will be provided by the facility. d)Provide emergent, diagnostic, and therapeutic colonoscopies, EGDs, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and other GI services as needed and which are clinically appropriate to be performed at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. e)Provide emergent, diagnostic, and therapeutic colonoscopies, EGDs, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and other GI services during nights, weekends and holidays or other times of limited coverage as agreed upon by the VAMC Chief, Gastroenterology Section and VAMC Chief, Medical Service. These will be performed on an on call basis during nights, weekends, and holidays in accordance with appropriate clinical care as determined by both the Contractor and the facility. Appropriate personnel will be available to assist during the procedures (i.e. nursing personnel) as required. f)Review the patient's medical records before ach procedure to determine appropriateness of the procedure and the safety of sedation for the individual patient. g)Notify the appropriate staff of findings that would require surgical or other treatment. h)Complete the appropriate VAMC consultation requests and procedure reports in the VA electronic records system (CPRS). i)Shall complete all VAMC credentialing requirements prior to performing contract services. Current ACLS and BLS certification are required for providers who perform procedures using moderate sedation. j)Shall be familiar with and supportive of the Department of Veterans Affairs regulations, policies, and procedures relating to accreditation, public relations, quality assurance and improvement, personnel management, and medico-legal issues. k)Will be provided with the James H. Quillen Medical Center contact information as well as all Medicine and Surgery call schedules and the Gastroenterology call schedule performed by the facility staff. l)Must respond by telephone within 10 minutes of first contact by VA personnel. m)Shall complete all annual training required by VHA policy (i.e. Privacy/HIPPA training, cyber security training, etc). This training will be available via the intranet. This includes, but is not limited to VA Cyber Security Awareness Training, VHA Privacy Policy Training, and Rules of Behavior. The Contract Gastroenterologist will abide by and meet all local requirements regarding access to the facility and facility computer systems. n)Shall complete all Computerized Personnel Record System (CPRS) training required for the completion of patient medical records.
