- The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North, Fort Detrick, MD, intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with Carefusion 211, Inc, Yorba Linda, CA, to provide a quantity of one Vmax Ergometer to the USAF 633rd MDSS, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. This proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than November 1, 2011, noon local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The 633rd MDSS currently uses the main pulmonary function machine; the ergometer and software are proprietary of Carefusion 211, inc and offer additional services to the pulmonary function machine that is owned and utilized by 633rd MDSS. Due to the propietary nature of the pulmonary function machine and the ergometer, no other manufacturer can offer an accessory that works with the in-house system and the purchase of a new pulmonary function machine and ergometer/acccessories would not be cost effective to the Government.
