- 1. Title - The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Data Coordinating Center (DCC) Request for Proposals Pre-informational Notice 2. Purpose - The purpose of this notice is to notify potential offerors about the upcoming RFP for The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Data Coordinating Center (DCC). 3. The estimated release date for the RFP is 11-2011. The contract will be funded by the National Cancer Institute and let through SAIC-Frederick, with a Period of Performance of 1 year with 3 option years. 4. Background: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) is a comprehensive and coordinated effort to accelerate our understanding of the molecular basis of cancer through the application of genome analysis technologies, including large-scale genome sequencing, gene expression analysis, and interrogation of epigenomic events. The scope of the program is to map and catalogue the genomic changes that occur in 20 major cancer types and subtypes from a variety of organ systems. TCGA is a joint effort of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), two of the 27 Institutes and Centers of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Data Coordinating Center is the steward of all the data generated as a result of funded activities within the TCGA Program. As a whole, the DCC is responsible for the build out, release, and maintenance of the TCGA data portal, management of the data repositories, and coordination of informatics related efforts from all of the data generating entities within the program. The main objectives of the RFP will be the following: Develop extensible, scalable, and innovative processes and systems to support the primary goals of the DCC: - Receive, QC and manage TCGA generated data (except sequencing data, which is housed in a separate repository) - Redistribute data to the research community in easily consumed formats via User and Application Programming Interfaces Coordinate and communicate data sharing activities within and across the TCGA community to facilitate research and the generation of manuscripts by the TCGA Consortium Provide support to existing data archive at current TCGA data portal ( http://tcga-data.nci.nih.gov/tcga/tcgaHome2.jsp ) Produce detailed, articulate and easily understood documentation on: - TCGA processes and procedures for data generation and submission to the DCC - Information identified, management and access across all disease projects, analytical platforms, and data types - Sample meta-data and annotations to facilitate research
