Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for custom high-performance long-wave and mid-waveinfrared interference filters. These filters are needed for existing research-gradeinfrared cameras that are equipped with spinning filter wheels for multi-spectralimaging. The mid-wave filters are needed for a camera that operates in the 1.5 to 6micron band, and the long-wave filters are needed for a camera that operates in the 6 to12 micron band. Each filter wheel spins at rates up to 200 Hz and has 8 filter positions. When all filter positions are filled with filters, small variations in filter weight, from filter to filter, can cause significant vibration of the filter wheel and cameraassembly. To maintain balance and prevent these vibrations, we require that the filtersof each respective band all be made using the same substrate and fall within a closeweight tolerance. We also require high performance with maximum possible averagetransmission, 90% or greater, and steepest possible slope, 2% or smaller. Delivery isrequired 8 weeks after award of contract. Please see attached for the complete Statementof Work. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice.
