- Description
- The award is the result of a proposal submitted by NASA Langley Research Center(LaRC), with Atmospheric and Environmental Research, Inc. (AER) as a team member, entitled, ASCENDS CarbonHawk Experiment Simulator (ACES), 10-IIP10-0082 that wasselected for award under NASA Headquarters SMD NASA Research Announcement (NRA)NNL10ZDA001N-IIP entitled Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Science - 2010(ROSES-2010), Program Element A.35 Instrument Incubator Program. The contractor shallsupport LaRC in analyzing and comparing the in situ and remote Carbon Dioxide (CO2)measurements for GlobalHawk flight conditions; participate in the interpretation of theCO2 column measurements relative to CO2 fluxes; provide flight planning support for fieldexperiment; and reporting the results to the atmospheric science community. Thecontractor shall participate in the development of simulation tools for assessing theperformance of Lidar-based CO2 remote sensing instruments for GlobalHawk flightconditions, and retrieval algorithms for estimating CO2 column amounts from LaserAbsorption Spectrometer (LAS) instrument data. The contractor shall analyze data setsfrom airborne tests of the payload. The contractor shall assist in the modeling of thepayload, verification of the payload's ability to retrieving the CO2 mixing ratio in thelower troposphere, and assist in the assessment of the payload performance for theACES-IIP.
