Description
Amendment 0005 The following questions have been sent by prospective offerors and the Government's responses are below: 1. Size stated is 3.75 web X 3.5: At one point it says the 3.75 web includes the exposed liner on each side of the label. At another point it says the actual label size is 3.75. We assume that the 3.75 web includes the standard liner size of 1/8" which would make the label 3.5" X 3.5" with a 1/16 inch liner showing on each side of the label. Is this correct? Response: Yes, that is correct. The line is exposed on each side of the label, the measurement exposed is 1/16th of an inch. 2. It is stated that the label MUST be butt cut which means there is no gap in between the labels. It is also stated that there is no black mark on the liner. The printer senses the start of a new label by a gap or black mark on the liner. If the labels were manufactured with a butt cut (no gap) and without a black mark on the liner, the printer would have no way of sensing the start and stop of a label. OR are you sensing based on an entry of the top of form in your printing format? Are you able to print without a black bar or a gap between labels? Response: The printing is formatted within the application. A perforation is required on the label, the printer may sense the perforation as its stop and start point. 3. A direct thermal label is specified. Direct thermal labels would never be recommended for outdoor applications as they will have a short shelf life. Response: The printer that we are using requires a Direct Thermal Label, we will manage the shelf life issue as needed. 4. Since you have a spec number for the adhesive, do you have a material spec number for the face stock? Response: The face stock must be Direct Thermal paper, I do not have a Spec Number for the stock. 5. If your labels are butt cut (meaning there is no gap between the labels) you would require the need of a timing mark on the back of the liner so the printer would know when to advance the label. If there is an industry standard of 1/8" between each there is no need for a timing mark or notch, so please advise when you can. Response: The printing is formatted within the application. A perforation is required on the label, the printer may sense the perforation as its stop and start point. 6. Additionally, you have called out for a certain adhesive GB720. Is there a reason for this one adhesive in particular? We had quoted on a very good all-temp adhesive with high initial tact and that is able to withstand a very cold environment. What is the environment that your labels are being subjected to? Furthermore, are you receptive to an alternative adhesive that should always be tested before any order is placed from anyone. Response: The adhesive that we identified is the adhesive that have proven to work in extreme heat (up to 140 degrees) and cold (below Zero). This is the requirement for any adhesive proposed. Environment the labels are subjected to are inside and outside storage in High Temperature (Arizona, New Mexico), High Humidity (Florida), Cold and extreme cold Temperature (Minnesota, North Dakota). Timeframe for asking question is now over please respond by Tuesday 11 Oct 2011, 4:30 PM Eastern.
