Description
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A NOTICE OF SOLICITATION ISSUANCE. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. Any formal solicitations will be announced separately. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information provided in response to this RFI. 1. BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION: The Air Force Uniform Office (AFUO), Wright-Patterson AFB, OH is an integrated product team within the ASC/WNUV Aircrew Performance Branch with responsibility for the design, development, test and sustainment of AF uniforms. The Air Force is conducting market research for a replacement material for the outershell of the MIL- J-83382C Jacket, Flyer's, Men's, Summer, Fire Resistant (CWU-36/P) and MIL-J-83388E Jacket, Flyer's, Cold Weather (CWU-45/P). This basic material is currently being made in accordance with MIL-C-81814C Cloth, Twill, Aramid, High Temperature Resistant. This document is available on ASSIST. http://www.assistdocs.com 2. PURPOSE/GENERAL INFORMATION: The AFUO is conducting market research seeking information from Industry on new and/or improved mature technologies that can be integrated into CWU-36/P and 45/P to replace current outershell material MIL-C-81814C. AFUO is looking ONLY for materials that meet all requirements set forth in MIL-C-81814C. AFUO is looking for expressions of interest and capability statements. Only Berry Amendment compliant materials/capabilities or Berry waivered materials and information should be submitted. 3. RESPONSE GUIDANCE: Please provide a white paper describing your capabilities and your concept of how your material's attributes at a minimum meets the physical properties requirements for MIL-C-81814C. Include technical data sheets for physical properties. Respondents should also include a description of the company's background/experience and any other information that the respondent believes demonstrates the value, performance and capabilities. As papers are received and reviewed, additional materials and/or information may be requested. Please submit responses by 11:59pm EST November 8, 2011 to points of contact listed above. This RFI is solely for information and does not constitute a solicitation or the issuance thereof. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Any information submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the Government for such information. This notice is for market survey only.
