Description
Description of services required: This project is to develop and disseminate a synthesis of the results of AHRQ's healthcare-associated infection (HAI) projects funded in FY 2007-2010. The synthesis is intended to accomplish two aims: 1) Identify effective approaches for preventing and reducing HAIs and promote the widespread application of these approaches; and 2) Identify gaps in the HAI science base and opportunities for funding further projects focused on knowledge generation and implementation to prevent HAIs. The contractor shall 1) Gather and summarize the final reports of HAI projects funded between 2007 and 2010; 2) Conduct interviews with the PIs of the projects to gain a more detailed understanding of the results and lessons learned; 3) Invite the PIs to contribute papers on the results of the projects to a compendium, which will be published and disseminated by AHRQ and published a series of supplements to a peer-reviewed journal (e.g., Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology); and 4) Developing a report, based on the three sources listed above, that presents an in-depth analysis of the results and looks across the projects to create a synthesis of findings, lessons learned, and gaps in knowledge. Identification of the exception to fair opportunity: The order must be issued on a sole-source basis in the interest of economy and efficiency because it is a logical follow-on to an order already issued under the contract. All awardees were given a fair opportunity to be considered for the original order. The original order is IMPAQ Task Order #7 - HAI National Action Plan. The purpose of this contract is to do conduct a follow-on synthesis of results of AHRQ's HAI projects that is a subset of the current Longitudinal Program Evaluation of HHS Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) National Action Plan (NAP). This follow on project will build on the project inventory of HAI funded contracts and grants expand and extend the information gathered for a more complete synthesis of the specific project activities funded directly by AHRQ. IMPAQ has already completed essential core work in preparing a complete inventory of AHRQ funded projects as part of their current contract and is completely familiar with projects contained within the inventory which will be the basis for the synthesis of results and impacts call for in this project.
