- Description
- Questions and Answers - Strategic Methodology Training 1. Who is the target audience for this instruction, e.g., commissioned officer, NCOs, Air War College? Faculty researchers (PhDs and Retired Lt Col/Cols) 2. What is the desired outcome of this training for each student for this training to be considered a success? Ability to research strategic and policy level issues for CSAF, SecAF, HHQ, MJCOMs and COCOMS 3. How will their learning be applied, in what setting and frequency? Applied to doctorate level research on a constant basis. 4. What behaviors/beliefs/attitudes are we modifying and what are the anticipated new behaviors/beliefs/attitudes desired? Critical Thinking, Strategic Perspective, and Ability to Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into a coherent narrative aimed at senior leaders and policy makers 5. How will these new behaviors/beliefs/attitudes be measured. When and by whom? Measurement will be based on ability to publish in credible professional journals like Foreign Affairs and acceptance and usage of reports by senior leaders and HHQ agencies. 6. How many training hours and in what time blocks are these hours allotted? Up to 80 hours within two consecutive weeks is the desired time frame. 7. Will a certificate/letter be appended to the trainees' records when training is successfully completed? Yes 8. "Can you supply any information about the students who will take the proposed class? I'm a bit confused about the course objective. Is this about training people to think strategically about airpower (similar to ACSC and AWC courses), or is it about something else?" The students are GS-12/13 and AD-25 Faculty Researchers most who have been through ACSC and AWC. What we need is something more advanced which will allow these individuals to research and prepare strategic and policy level reports and projects for the Chief of Staff Air Force (CSAF), Secretary of the AF, MAJCOM and COCOM Commanders and other higher headquarter agencies. We are looking to supplement those who have not done research at the doctorate level while also placing it a military context for those who do not have the extensive military experience of our retired Colonels and Lt Colonels.
